The lodges at Damdochax are run by Alice and her daughter Hannah. There are four simple lodges, all within walking distance. The uppermost lodge is located at Damdochax Lake; anglers aren't usually accommodated there. The next lodge, Cottonwood Creek Lodge, is just a few kilometers downstream. It can accommodate four anglers. About an hour's walk downstream is the Moss Creek Lodge, which can accommodate two anglers.
There, you can fish the middle section of the river. The fourth and final lodge, Alder Lodge, is located even further downstream at the confluence of Damdochax and Nass rivers. From there, you can fish the lower pools of Damdochax and, using jet boats, the upper Nass.
Sleeping accommodations are in tents with wooden floors – quite modest but sufficient. The tents are equipped with a wood stove, and dry wood is always plentiful. Our cook and guide, Tobi, ensured truly excellent food.
I spent the entire week with Alice and guide Tobi, fishing almost the entire Damdochax and the most beautiful pools on the upper Nass. It was quite a sporty challenge with a lot of hiking and floating involved.
