Cosmoledo Atoll in the Indian Ocean belongs to the Aldabra Group, which is one of the Outer Islands of the Seychelles. Cosmoledo Atoll in the Indian Ocean is part of the Aldabra Group, which belongs to the Outer Islands of the Seychelles. The atoll is located approximately 1,000 kilometres south-west of the main island of Mahé.  It consists of numerous small islands that enclose a large, shallow lagoon. The actual land area is comparatively small, whilst the lagoon makes up the majority of the atoll.

Thanks to its remoteness and unspoilt natural environment, Cosmoledo Atoll is considered a true paradise for anglers. Sport fishermen in particular appreciate the waters, which are teeming with fish, including bonefish, trevallies and other sought-after species.

The next trip to this extraordinary region is planned for the week of the new moon in February 2027, for which there are currently still a few places available.

    It's crucial that the reels for GT fishing are equipped with a strong drag system and have sufficient backing (50-80 lbs). There should be at least 250-300 meters of backing on the GT reels. For Bonefish and Permit, there should be at least 200 meters of backing on the reel.

    It's important that the fly lines are suitable for tropical conditions, as it will be warm in these regions. Rio and Scientific Angler offer a good selection of suitable lines. Bring at least 2 spare lines for GT and one for Permit!

    Giant Trevally: The most important lines are Floating lines. However, it's also important to have a full Sink line with you, as fishing in deeper water is necessary.

    Permit and Trigger: Choose a Floating line that matches the rod class.

    Bonefish: Choose a Floating line that matches the rod class.

    Leader material: Fluorocarbon or Nylon

    Giant Trevally and other predators: 100 lbs

    Permit, Trigger: 15 lbs and 20 lbs

    Bonefish: 12 lbs and 15 lbs
