Cosmoledo Atoll in the Indian Ocean belongs to the Aldabra Group, which is one of the Outer Islands of the Seychelles. The atoll is located about 1000 kilometers southwest of the main island Mahé. About 38 kilometers southeast of Cosmoledo Atoll is Astove Island. Cosmoledo has a length of 14.5 kilometers and a width of 11.5 kilometers. The total land area of the atoll is only 5.2 square kilometers, and the area of the lagoon is 145 m2.
