Helicopter Trout Fishing

Another challenge awaited me: The Kharlovka Lodge was closed due to a military exercise taking place, and the lodge was situated within the restricted zone. As a result, a camp was set up outside of this zone along the river. This turned out to be advantageous for me: I could also fish for salmon there in the evenings. And the brown trout fishing was a dream come true: In just one week, I managed to catch 76 brown trout weighing between one and five kilograms each.

The tent camp was basic, yet somehow comfortable. What mattered was that I had an excellent guide named Genia, who knew the rivers like the back of his hand, tied great flies, and spoke good English. Additionally, there was someone to cook for us and maintain order in the camp. What more could one ask for?

Moreover, the camp was strategically located at one of the best salmon pools on the Kharlovka. This allowed me to catch salmon in the evenings using the hitch technique.
